How to get rid of smile lines

By on May 8, 2011

Deep smile lines are something that makes you look much older than you really am. Most of the smile lines are caused by a combination of deflation and descent of the cheek fat pads, which can create a hollowed appearance below the lower lids and deepened nasolabial folds. If you want to know what is the best way to get rid of smile lines, we will present to you some possible solutions. Not all will need any surgical treatments. In fact, we don’t advice anyone to go for cosmetic surgery unless it is really necessary.

First, there are some creams and lotions which you can consider. These are mainly for smile lines that are not too serious. When buying such a lotion, look out for one which has grape seed oils such as the main ingredient. This is because the polyphenolics in the seed oils can work with the collagen in your body to raise the skin and ‘fill’ the ‘hollows’ that have been created.

You can also consider the use of a home microdermabrasion system. These systems help to remove the dead skin from your skin and make create a smoother appearance. However, if your smile lines are too deep, this solution will not be practical for you. In fact, for patients with deep smile lines, you need to resort to cosmetic surgery to remove these smile lines.

In terms of which cosmetic treatment to consider, it depends on where the smile lines appear in your body. For facial smile lines, injections such botox or dysport can be a possible solution. Alternatively, you can also consider laser resurfacing treatments sucha s fraxel laser or the newly launched palovia laser. For smile lines on other parts of your face such as on the checks or lips area, you can consider sculptra injections, which can help to soften the lines and create a smoother appearance.  For a more permanent effect, you can try injection of fats into your troubled area but that is not only costly but has a long recovery period as well.
